During
my training I keep reminding people to cut down on their caffeine. Most people are not aware of how
caffeine hurts the brain.

According to a study by Durham University, those who drink an equivalent of 7 cups of coffee per day are 3 times more likely to have hallucination that those who drink less than one cup per day.

In the study “caffeine” includes coffee, tea, energy drinks, chocolate bars, caffeine tablets. Those with a high caffeine intake reported seeing things that were not there, hearing voices, sensing presence of dead people etc.

The study also found that caffeine tends to “exacerbate the physiological effects of stress.” When under stress, the hormone cortisol is released and when there is too much of that hormone, scientists feel this has a link to hallucination.

There is a trend that worries me sometimes – the increase in people

In the BBC report, two individuals went on a 7 day experiment. These two individuals were given
de-caf and caffeine drinks, though they themselves don’t know which is which.

anxiety and sleep better.

Why do people drink coffee?
I could think of a few reasons:
their brains are under-nourished; they are addicted; they feel it’s
trendy!

I have seen people cut caffeine cold – they substitute it with fruits,

So the next time you find yourself caffeine dependent, go get a
fruit! What you need is glucose
